Illinois - Locating License Transfer
This article is divided into two sections so you can follow only what applies to you:
- Agents with an active Illinois Real Estate Broker License: Use this if you already hold an active Illinois broker license and want to transfer it to Relive.
- Agents without an active Brokers License: Use this if you do not currently hold an active Illinois broker license. This section explains how to apply for the 120‑Day Student Leasing Agent Permit and what to do next so you can keep working after your permit expires.
Agents With an Active Illinois Real Estate Broker License
If you already have an active Illinois Real Estate Broker License, follow these steps to transfer your license to Relive:
STEP 1: Log in to the IDFPR portal: https://online-dfpr.micropact.com/
STEP 2: Select “Online Services”
STEP 3: Click “Licensure Options”
STEP 4: Under “Supervision Authorization,” click “Start”
STEP 5: Choose “Transfer License to New Brokerage Firm,” then click “Next”
STEP 6: Enter Relive’s license number: 478027745, then click “Search”
STEP 7: Click “Add” (on the left side of Relive’s name), then confirm “OK”
STEP 8: Review the information, confirm it is correct, and proceed to payment
IMPORTANT
- If your license is inactive/inoperative, you may need to select “Add a New Sponsor (Inoperative License)” instead of “Transfer License to New Brokerage Firm.”
- All transfers must be approved by the Relive managing broker within the IDFPR required time window.
Agents Without an Active Illinois Brokers License
If you do not currently hold an active Illinois Real Estate Broker License, you can still start working with Relive by applying for a 120‑Day Student Leasing Agent Permit while you work toward your permanent Residential Leasing Agent license.
120‑Day Student Leasing Agent Permit
The Student Leasing Agent Permit is a 120‑day temporary permit that allows you to perform leasing activities under Relive’s supervision while you are enrolled in an approved pre‑license course. During these 120 days, you must complete your education and start the process of getting your Residential Leasing Agent license so you can continue working once the permit expires.
STEP 1 – Complete the Student Leasing Agent Permit form
Open this link and fill in your personal information: https://eform.pandadoc.com/?eform=060bcdf0-8d99-4078-9117-6398defc3ce8
STEP 2 – Pay the state permit fee
Once you have the signed permit, go to the state payment link: https://magic.collectorsolutions.com/magic-ui/en-US/Login/il-IDFPR-OneTimePayment
On the payment portal, select:
- “Licensing Payment”
- Then “Individual License Application (New)”
- Then “Non-Exam”
- Then choose “Real Estate Leasing Agent Student – 472”
Continue and complete the payment submission for the Student Leasing Agent Permit.
STEP 3 – Email your application to IDFPR
After you complete payment:
- Confirm you have:
- Your fully completed the 120‑Day Student Leasing Agent Permit form
- Your payment confirmation (receipt or confirmation page from the payment portal)
- Email these documents to: fpr.realestate@illinois.gov
- Attach the signed permit and your payment confirmation
- Add support@reliverealty.com in copy (CC) so our team can track your submission
STEP 4 – Upload proof to Relive
Take a screenshot of the email you sent to IDFPR (showing the recipient, subject, and attachments) and upload it to the Relive onboarding platform. This allows us to confirm that your permit application is in process and that you are cleared to start working once IDFPR processes it.
What You Must Do Before Your 120‑Day Permit Expires
You cannot rely on the temporary Student Leasing Agent Permit forever. To keep working as a leasing agent with Relive after the 120 days are up, you must obtain your Residential Leasing Agent license.
We strongly recommend that you start this process as early as possible, ideally around the halfway point of your 120‑day permit (around day 60), so there is enough time to complete everything.
Steps to get your Residential Leasing Agent license:
- Complete 15 hours of pre‑license education
- Take an approved 15‑hour Residential Leasing Agent pre‑license course from an Illinois provider (examples: Institute Online, REALTORS Real Estate School, or other IDFPR‑approved schools).
- Keep your course completion certificate.
- Pass the state licensing exam
- Schedule and take the Leasing Agent exam (both national and state portions).
- Pass the exam and keep your exam pass results.
- Obtain sponsorship from a managing broker
- Relive will serve as your sponsoring brokerage, so coordinate with us before submitting your final license application.
- Apply for your Residential Leasing Agent license with IDFPR
- Submit your application (including course completion proof, exam results, and sponsorship) via the IDFPR process.
- Once issued, this license allows you to continue working in residential rentals (apartment locating, etc.) beyond the 120‑day permit window.
- Maintain your license
- You must renew your license periodically, complete any required continuing education, and pay renewal fees according to IDFPR rules.
Important Disclaimer
Relive must comply with Illinois real estate law and IDFPR regulations at all times.
- If your 120‑day permit expires and you do not hold an active Illinois Broker License or an active Residential Leasing Agent License, Relive is legally required to offboard you.
- This means you will no longer be allowed to perform any real estate activities on behalf of Relive until you obtain a valid Illinois real estate license.
Please plan ahead, start your licensing steps as soon as possible, and keep Relive informed of your progress so there is no gap in your ability to work.
